Christine, born and raised in Mbita, Kenya is thrilled to welcome her first child into her family. Working as a shop keeper for her family’s business, Christine says her biggest worry during her pregnancy is the lack of clean water available to her. With an ongoing drought, her entire community is dependent on water from Lake Victoria, a water source filled with disease.
Each antenatal care kit includes a mosquito net to sleep under, water treatment drops to provide clean water for her entire pregnancy, a laboratory test for ongoing evaluations of maternal health, and medications including malaria prophylaxis, deworming, ferrous sulfate and folic acid. In addition, mothers visit the Med25 clinic each month during their pregnancy to receive maternal education and check ups from clinic professionals.
Thank you, Rick and Beth, for providing Christine with the care she needs to ensure she protects herself and her unborn child from illnesses. After receiving this kit, Christine said that strangers giving her a gift makes her want to do what she can to give back to someone else in her community. Thank you!
